TV’s Very Best Crime Shows at a Glance

Crime has always been a popular genre within the world of entertainment. It’s not difficult to understand why; crime shows are often realistic enough that the viewer believes that such things could actually happen, but it also allows them to be part of an environment where they don’t actually have to be involved in any crime.

There are countless crime shows that have been produced over the years, and while not all of them are Oscar-worthy, others are widely regarded as some of the most well-made shows of all time. Let’s take a look at some crime shows that are worth giving a watch.

The Boys

The Boys is technically a combination of the crime and superhero genres, but it’s done in such an intelligent way that it paints a great picture of what the world would really be like if superheroes did exist.

Rarely do we see the heroes using their powers; rather we focus on how large corporations have bought the heroes and use them as assets to increase profits. There’s also a large focus on celebrity worship as well as the constant struggle of the average person against such powerful beings. It’s definitely worth a watch, especially for those that have grown tired of the usual superhero tropes.

The Wire

The Wire is considered not just one of the best crime shows every made, but one of the best shows of all time. It was created by former journalist David Simon as he spent a few years in Baltimore, being a first-hand witness to a failing city, complete with drugs, murder, corrupt politicians and policemen, and much more. It has earned many awards over the years, with much of the praise being centred on its realism.

There are few other crime shows that have been able to achieve the same accolades or critical reception as this one, making it a must-see for any lovers of crime.

The Sopranos

Running for over a decade, the Sopranos quickly became something of a household name, and during its runtime, as given a total of 112 Emmy nominations, of which it won 21. The story is about Tony Soprano, played by James Gandolfini, as he attempts to navigate his two worlds: one as the head of a crime family in New Jersey, and another as a family man.

It’s packed with unforgettable moments, excellent acting, and enough twists and turns to keep the audience engaged throughout, just like the wagering on the favourite sport on Android betting app.

Breaking Bad

There are not many people who have not heard of Breaking Bad, and very few who haven’t watched it. Thanks mostly to unique story and the acting, especially that of Brian Cranston, Breaking Bad is a true titan in the crime show genre.

It tells the story of Walter White, a chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and begins a meth empire to make sure his family is looked after once he dies. The storytelling is without parallel, the acting is beyond compare, and it’s one of the few shows that never really loses its steam from start to finish.
