What’s Coming From Marvel’s Cinematic Universe?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU as it’s more commonly known, is about to enter a bold new era with its fans. Now that we’re living in a Marvel universe where Thanos has been defeated, many fans were left wondering what will happen next. Well, aside from the wildly successful run of series on Disney+, which included the likes of WandaVision, Loki, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, there have also been plenty of future blockbusters in the works. Let’s look at what we can expect from the MCU in the coming months.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

The second installment in the Black Panther series, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to be released later this year. After the tragic and untimely death of Chadwick Boseman, who played the Black Panther, King T’Challa, himself, Marvel announced that there was no intention of recasting the role. Ryan Coogler returns as director, and it is believed that the film’s plot will now focus on the leaders of the Kingdom of Wakanda as they fight to protect their mighty nation following the king’s death. This is of course complicated by the fact that the rest of the world is now vying to get their hands on Wakanda’s invaluable natural resource – vibranium.

Coogler is also said to be bringing a Wakandan TV series to Disney+ at some point in the not-too-distant future. Black Panther fans can set their countdown timers now, as the film’s release date has officially been announced as 11 November 2022.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man has always been an unlikely, yet somehow instantly likable superhero, which is perhaps why the Ant-Man franchise is already entering its third installment. In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Peyton Reed returns as director. This makes him one of only two directors in the MCU to have completed a trilogy of films. Evangeline Lilly will return as The Wasp, and Michael Douglas will also reprise his role as Hank Pym. Kathryn Newton is a newcomer to the series and will star as Cassie, Ant-Man’s now grown-up daughter.

Not much else is known about this film in terms of plot, but it has been widely reported that the movie’s villain will be Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors of Lovecraft Country fame. The movie is slated for release on 17 February 2023, so if you’re looking for entertainment in the interim, you’ll find plenty of online Australian slots.

Secret Invasion

Not much is currently known about this series, other than the fact that it has a stellar cast and may well be the biggest thing to happen to the MCU since Avengers: Endgame. Samuel L. Jackson makes his return as the iconic Nick Fury, alongside Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, and Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colemen, and Killian Scott in yet-to-be-confirmed roles. Early signs suggest that the series is about the shape shifting Skrull infiltration of Earth. Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim are on directing duties, and Kyle Bradstreet of Mr Robot takes up the reigns of head writer.

There is no official release date for the series yet, but it’s believed to be sometime in Spring 2023.
